different : a. 不同的,有差异的
(1) different from 在英美都常用。如:
His handwriting is different from hers. 他的笔迹和她的不一样。
Things are different from what they used to be. 现在的情况与过去不一样了。
(2) 有人认为different to不正确,但一些英国人常用。如:
He is different to me. 他和我不同。
(3) 有人认为different than 不正确,但一些美国人常用。如:
How different things seem now than yesterday! 今非昔比!
(4) different可以被no,much, far, a great deal等修饰。如:
His position today is no different from what it was three years ago. 他现在的地位和三年前的地位完全一样。
(5) 在肯定句中,用very 修饰different比用much好。如:
Mary is very different from Tom. 玛丽和汤姆大不相同。
(6) 在否定句和疑问句中用much修饰different比very更常用。如:
The weather today is not much different from what it was yesterday. 今天的天气和昨天相差不太大。
(7) different用于广告,意为“与众不同”,不是“各不相同”。如Washing-machines that are different是“与众不同的洗衣机”,不是“各不相同的洗衣机”。
